'Lo Zeromus! Stone's Glossary lists it as a early type of Japanese sword, having a very long and heavy blade. At 25% longer than the ordinary sword it was worn on the back, hilt over the left shoulder, edge to the left. Pictured in Stone's is an example at 6' 3" of overall length. As to obtaining one, I think it'll have to be a custom job. IP: Logged |

It's the sword carried by Toshiro Mifune's character in the movie The Seven Samurai - you could probably websearch a photo or two - and if/when you do, bear in mind that those proportions are correct. It was a BIG sword. IP: Logged |

Japanese Nodachi 1447. By a smith named Norimitsu.

Now that's just silly. The reason for making such a blade (assuming it wasn't that unlikely thing, a medieval Japanese joke) has to be a bit like eating a phal curry. To prove you can. IP: Logged |

Hi! Nodachis really existed and were twice as long as a katana MAX.!(normally smaller) Forget everything longer and always think about it, that these weapons had to be handled effectively - there are some natural restrictions... Nodachis can only be used in the open field and never had any great popularity. Hope I could help... Lue IP: Logged |

Thanks for helping me with the nodachi! I needed the info about it because the villian of my new book uses one, and I wanted to see what they were like. Thanks a bunch! ------------------ IP: Logged |
